I had a project a few years ago where I was using Raspberry Pi's to send a MQTT data packet to AWS. It took a lot of tinkering. There was programming the Pi's, securing them, consuming the data at AWS and I never got to the presentation of the data for consumption by management team. I want to restart this project but use a DIN rail mounted piece of hardware to the collection of data. Budget is a consideration. I could spend up to $1,000 each on the end point hardware but would like to keep it lower than that.
I guess I am hoping for comments from others who have done this kind of project to hear what worked for them in terms of data collection hardware and software that presents the data to computer illeterate people. What worked well for you? What didn't? What might be a good place to start other than Raspberry Pi type solutions.
